BIOGRAPHY
I began my teaching career in the very same school I attended kindergarten, in Elkhart, IN. I’d wanted to be a teacher since I was knee-high. I graduated from Elkhart HIgh School, and attended Indiana State University, in Terre Haute, IN.
Most of my 25 teaching years were spent in first grade. I taught kindergarten for two years, along the way. When my children were young, I stayed home with them for ten years, although substituting now and then during that time. I returned to the public school system in Sandwich, IL, when Anissa was in fourth grade and Michael was in first grade.
When my husband’s job transferred us to Florida, I began teaching at a private school in Coral Springs, where Grace was my Principal. Finding out that a new private school was being built close to our home in Weston, IL, I transferred to the Sagemont School, and remained there for five years, in the third grade.
A little bundle named Lucas arrived in 2000. We wanted to be closer to that little grandson, and moved back to Indiana. My family wanted me to take time to smell the roses, knowing that my classroom activities had been my life for many years. So I decided that I would relax, care for my mother, who lived in an assisted living facility nearby, and see what life had in store for me.
Our 35th Anniversary, Anissa presented an answer. She had created a frame created from copies of our wedding photos. That was the first Time Frame! I continue today with Time Frames by Sharon.
We live about an hour from Lucas and his sister, Josie. Being grandparents is such a joy. Their activities keep us active! Life is good!
